Spending by golf tourists contributes more than 1,000 million euros to the economy of the Canary Islands and represents 18% of national spending.
The economic impact of golf in the country reached 15,937 million euros, and a large part of this figure went to complementary sectors such as the hotel and catering industry and commerce, generating new employment opportunities and economic development for the region.
It is estimated that the turnover of golf courses in the Canary Islands represents 12% of the national total and 6% in terms of direct employment, contributing more than 105 million euros to the total turnover of the national sector.
A golf tourist spends an average of 4,189 euros per year, a figure much higher than that of the average tourist.
