Tourism in the Canary Islands Increases Again, Reaching 1.63 Million Tourists
Tourism in the Canary Islands has grown by a total of 1.63 million visitors, marking a 10.37% increase compared to the same month in 2023. This signifies that the year-on-year growth rate has risen for the fifteenth consecutive month.
Tourist Origins: Predominantly International
90% of tourists visiting the Canary Islands in November came from abroad, reflecting a 10.57% rise compared to November of the previous year.
- The United Kingdom leads the ranking with 31.5% of visitors, consolidating its position as the main source market.
- Germany ranks second, accounting for 19.7% of tourists.
- Domestic tourists (residents of Spain) represented 8.5% of the total, an increase of 8.26% compared to 2023.
Tenerife: The Leading Destination for Tourists
Among the islands, Tenerife remains the most visited, welcoming 652,800 tourists, equivalent to 40% of the total. It is followed by Gran Canaria with 27.4% and Lanzarote with 17.3%.
Duration and Purpose of Travel
65% of visitors stayed for 1 to 7 nights, with the primary purpose of travel continuing to be leisure, cementing the Canary Islands as a top destination for vacation tourism.
Bookings and Accommodation
Nearly half of the tourists, 49%, traveled to the Canary Islands using a package deal that includes accommodation and transportation under a single rate. Regarding accommodation preferences, hotels and apartments remain the most popular choices, hosting 77.8% of visitors.
