Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (flats, campsites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels) exceeded 13.9 million in September, with an increase of 3.7% over the same month last year.<\/p>

Overnight stays by residents increased by 1.4% and those by non-residents by 5.3%.<\/p>

The average stay was 4.0 overnight stays per traveller.<\/p>

Apartments<\/strong>
Overnight stays in tourist flats increased 3.5% in September. Those of residents increased by 5.0% and those of non-residents by 2.9%.<\/p>

The average stay decreased by 0.7%, to 5.0 overnight stays per traveller.<\/p>

In September, 39.0% of the bedplaces offered were occupied, 4.2% more than in the same month of 2023. The occupancy rate per bedplaces at weekends was 42.2%, 4.7% more than in the same month in 2023.<\/p>

Non-resident travellers accounted for 67.6% of overnight stays. The United Kingdom was the main source market, with 35.5% of the total.<\/p>

The Canary Islands was the preferred destination in flats, with more than 1.9 million overnight stays and an increase of 0.7% compared to September 2023. The Community of Madrid had the highest occupancy, with 77.5% of the flats on offer.<\/p>

By tourist areas, the Costa Blanca was the preferred destination, with more than 731 thousand overnight stays. The island of Lanzarote had the highest occupancy rate for flats, 86.5%. The tourist destinations with the highest number of overnight stays were Arona, San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana and T\u00edas.<\/p>

Campings<\/strong>
Overnight stays in campsites increased by 6.4% in September as compared with the same month in 2023. Those of residents grew by 1.7% and those of non-residents by 11.8%.<\/p>

During September, 44.7% of the pitches on offer were occupied, 8.9% more in annual rate. The weekend occupancy rate was 45.8%, an increase of 5.8%. Non-resident travellers accounted for 49.0% of overnight stays. Germany was the main source market, with 24.5% of the total.<\/p>

Catalonia was the preferred destination in campsites, with more than 2.3 million overnight stays, and an increase of 6.3% in annual rate. La Rioja reached the highest occupancy rate, with 62.2% of the pitches on offer.<\/p>

By tourist area, the Costa Brava was the preferred destination, with more than 926,000 overnight stays. The Costa Blanca had the highest occupancy rate, with 74.6%. The tourist destinations with the highest number of overnight stays were Benidorm, Torroella de Montgr\u00ed and Tarragona.<\/p>

Rural tourism accommodation<\/strong>
Overnight stays in rural tourism accommodation were at a similar level to 2023 in September. Overnight stays by residents fell by 4.4%, while those by non-residents increased by 8.0%.<\/p>

22.6% of bedplaces were occupied, 0.7% less than in September 2023. The weekend occupancy rate stood at 36.9%, with an annual increase of 8.5%.<\/p>

The Balearic Islands was the preferred destination, with more than 236 thousand overnight stays, 5.5% more than in September 2023. It also achieved the highest occupancy rate, with 64.4%.<\/p>

By tourist areas, the island of Majorca was the preferred destination, with more than 177,000 overnight stays. The island of Menorca reached the highest occupancy rate, with 68.6% of the places offered.<\/p>

Hostels<\/strong>
Overnight stays in hostels registered an annual decrease of 4.6% in September. Those of residents fell by 8.4% and those of non-residents by 1.9%.<\/p>

A total of 36.5% of bedplaces were occupied, 5.3% less than in September 2023. Weekend occupancy increased by 6.9% to 44.6%.<\/p>

Galicia was the preferred destination, with more than 200,000 overnight stays. Comunidad de Madrid reached the highest occupancy rate, with 69.8% of the bedplaces offered.<\/p>

Price indices<\/strong>
The Tourist Apartments Price Index (APPI) rose 5.2% in September as compared with the same month in 2023. For its part, the Campsite Price Index (IPAC) increased by 6.4% and the Rural Tourism Price Index (IPTR) by 4.1%.<\/p>
