According to official data, the total number of overnight stays in tourist accommodation establishments across the European Union exceeded <strong data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"389\">3 billion<\/strong>, marking a <strong data-start=\"401\" data-end=\"418\">2.2% increase<\/strong> compared to 2023, with 65.4 million additional overnight stays.<\/p><h6 data-start=\"486\" data-end=\"535\"><strong data-start=\"491\" data-end=\"533\">The Boost from International Travelers<\/strong><\/h6><p data-start=\"536\" data-end=\"805\">One of the key drivers of this growth was the increase in international tourism, which saw <strong data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"664\">67.2 million more overnight stays<\/strong> compared to the previous year (+4.9%). In contrast, overnight stays by domestic travelers saw a slight decline of <strong data-start=\"779\" data-end=\"787\">0.1%<\/strong> (-1.8 million).<\/p><h6 data-start=\"807\" data-end=\"867\"><strong data-start=\"812\" data-end=\"865\">Spain, Italy, France, and Germany Lead EU Tourism<\/strong><\/h6><p data-start=\"868\" data-end=\"976\">The data shows that four countries accounted for more than <strong data-start=\"927\" data-end=\"963\">60% of the total overnight stays<\/strong> in the EU:<\/p><ul data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1107\"><li data-start=\"977\" data-end=\"1020\"><strong data-start=\"979\" data-end=\"988\">Spain<\/strong>: 500 million overnight stays.<\/li><li data-start=\"1021\" data-end=\"1048\"><strong data-start=\"1023\" data-end=\"1032\">Italy<\/strong>: 458 million.<\/li><li data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1077\"><strong data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1061\">France<\/strong>: 451 million.<\/li><li data-start=\"1078\" data-end=\"1107\"><strong data-start=\"1080\" data-end=\"1091\">Germany<\/strong>: 441 million.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"1109\" data-end=\"1265\">On the other hand, the countries with the lowest number of overnight stays were Luxembourg (3.4 million), Latvia (4.7 million), and Estonia (6.6 million).<\/p><h6 data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1309\"><strong data-start=\"1272\" data-end=\"1307\">Top Growth Destinations in 2024<\/strong><\/h6><p data-start=\"1310\" data-end=\"1664\">While growth was widespread, some countries experienced particularly significant increases in tourism. Malta led the ranking with a <strong data-start=\"1442\" data-end=\"1451\">14.4%<\/strong> increase, followed by Latvia with <strong data-start=\"1486\" data-end=\"1494\">7.4%<\/strong> more overnight stays compared to 2023. On the opposite side, only four countries saw declines: Luxembourg (-2.7%), France (-0.6%), Belgium (-0.2%), and Sweden (-0.1%).<\/p><h6 data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1721\"><strong data-start=\"1671\" data-end=\"1719\">A Strong Final Quarter Seals the Record Year<\/strong><\/h6><p data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1974\">The last quarter of 2024 played a crucial role in achieving this record, with a <strong data-start=\"1802\" data-end=\"1819\">5.1% increase<\/strong> in overnight stays in the EU compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. Most EU countries experienced growth in hotel stays, with the highest increases in:<\/p><ul data-start=\"1975\" data-end=\"2069\"><li data-start=\"1975\" data-end=\"1997\"><strong data-start=\"1977\" data-end=\"1986\">Malta<\/strong>: +16.5%.<\/li><li data-start=\"1998\" data-end=\"2021\"><strong data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2010\">Latvia<\/strong>: +12.5%.<\/li><li data-start=\"2022\" data-end=\"2044\"><strong data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2033\">Italy<\/strong>: +11.1%.<\/li><li data-start=\"2045\" data-end=\"2069\"><strong data-start=\"2047\" data-end=\"2058\">Croatia<\/strong>: +10.2%.<\/li><\/ul><p data-start=\"2071\" data-end=\"2159\">The only exception was <strong data-start=\"2094\" data-end=\"2105\">Ireland<\/strong>, where hotel overnight stays decreased by <strong data-start=\"2148\" data-end=\"2156\">1.8%<\/strong>.<\/p><h6 data-start=\"2161\" data-end=\"2188\"><strong data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2186\">Outlook for 2025<\/strong><\/h6><p data-start=\"2189\" data-end=\"2473\">Tourism in the EU remains a cornerstone of the economy, with trends pointing towards further internationalization and destination diversification.
