Hotel overnight stays in Spain fell by 0.9% in February compared to the same month in 2024, reaching over 18.4 million. This decline was mainly driven by a 3.1% drop in overnight stays by Spanish residents, while non-resident stays saw a slight increase of 0.3%.<\/p>

However, in the first two months of 2025, overnight stays increased by 0.7% compared to the same period last year. During this period, stays by Spanish residents declined by 1.9%, while those by non-residents grew by 2.2%.<\/p>

Top Tourist Destinations<\/strong><\/h6>

Andalusia, the Community of Madrid, and Catalonia were the most popular destinations among Spanish residents in February, accounting for 20.0%, 13.5%, and 12.8% of total overnight stays, respectively.<\/p>

For international travelers, the Canary Islands remained the top destination, capturing 46.8% of total non-resident overnight stays, followed by Catalonia (14.7%) and Andalusia (13.7%).<\/p>

Among tourist areas, the island of Tenerife recorded the highest number of overnight stays, exceeding 2.1 million. The top tourist hotspots in terms of overnight stays were Madrid, Barcelona, and San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana.<\/p>

Source Markets: UK and Germany Lead the Way<\/strong><\/h6>

Travelers from the United Kingdom and Germany accounted for 23.4% and 15.5% of non-resident overnight stays, respectively. France, Italy, and the Netherlands followed as the next most significant source markets, representing 7.3%, 4.7%, and 4.5% of the total, respectively.<\/p>

Hotel Occupancy on the Rise<\/strong><\/h6>

Despite the slight decline in total overnight stays, hotel occupancy showed positive growth. In February, 53.9% of available hotel beds were occupied, reflecting a 1.7% year-on-year increase. Weekend occupancy reached 61.9%, up by 4.3%.<\/p>

The Canary Islands recorded the highest occupancy rate at 79.5%. Among tourist areas, the South of Gran Canaria had the highest occupancy rates, with 83.2% overall and 82.2% on weekends. Mog\u00e1n was the leading destination in terms of occupancy, with 86.2%, while Puerto de la Cruz had the highest weekend occupancy at 84.6%.<\/p>

Hotel Prices and Profitability<\/strong><\/h6>

The Hotel Price Index rose by 4.2% in February compared to the same month in 2024. La Rioja recorded the highest price increase (9.2%), while the Valencian Community saw a slight decline of 0.6%.<\/p>

By hotel category, one-star silver establishments saw the highest price increase, at 16.7%.<\/p>

In terms of profitability, the average daily rate (ADR) per occupied room stood at \u20ac112.5 in February, reflecting a 4.8% increase from February 2024. Meanwhile, the revenue per available room (RevPAR) reached \u20ac71.7, marking a 6.0% rise.<\/p>

For five-star hotels, the ADR was \u20ac249.2, with a RevPAR of \u20ac163.5. Four-star hotels recorded an ADR of \u20ac114.6 and a RevPAR of \u20ac82.8, while three-star hotels reported \u20ac90.8 and \u20ac58.4, respectively.<\/p>

The tourist destination with the highest ADR and RevPAR was Naut Aran, with \u20ac255.4 and \u20ac188.6, respectively.<\/p>
