The most common reason for accepting the tax was <strong data-start=\"738\" data-end=\"780\">to improve and protect the environment<\/strong>, followed by supporting general government purposes and enhancing the quality of life in the Canary Islands.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"891\" data-end=\"1134\">Furthermore, <strong data-start=\"904\" data-end=\"956\">90.4% of German tourists who were willing to pay<\/strong> said they would accept a tax ranging from <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1023\">1 to 3 euros per day<\/strong>. The highest acceptance rate was found among tourists from <strong data-start=\"1083\" data-end=\"1105\">Schleswig-Holstein<\/strong>, with an impressive <strong data-start=\"1126\" data-end=\"1133\">95%<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1136\" data-end=\"1407\">However, <strong data-start=\"1145\" data-end=\"1173\">20.2% of German tourists<\/strong> said they would exclude a destination from their travel plans if it imposed a tourist tax. Tourists from <strong data-start=\"1279\" data-end=\"1296\">Saxony-Anhalt<\/strong> were the most likely to do so (<strong data-start=\"1328\" data-end=\"1337\">30.3%<\/strong>), while those from <strong data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1372\">Brandenburg<\/strong> were the least likely (<strong data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1405\">14.2%<\/strong>).<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1409\" data-end=\"1820\">As for British tourists, <strong data-start=\"1434\" data-end=\"1443\">49.4%<\/strong> said they would be willing to pay a tourist tax. <strong data-start=\"1493\" data-end=\"1505\">Scotland<\/strong> led the way, with <strong data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1531\">54%<\/strong> of its tourists open to the idea. In terms of amount, <strong data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1613\">86% of British tourists<\/strong> said they would be comfortable paying between <strong data-start=\"1660\" data-end=\"1685\">1 and 3 euros per day<\/strong>, with the highest acceptance coming from tourists from <strong data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"1769\">Yorkshire and the Humber<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1778\" data-end=\"1795\">West Midlands<\/strong>, both at nearly <strong data-start=\"1812\" data-end=\"1819\">90%<\/strong>.<\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"2129\">On the other hand, <strong data-start=\"1841\" data-end=\"1870\">25.8% of British tourists<\/strong> would exclude a destination due to the existence of a tourist tax.
